Meet the team: Gani Berisha, Head of Operations at SHAOKE Netherlands

Meet Gani Berisha, the Head of Operations at SHAOKE Netherlands. Gani’s role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations to ensure everything runs smoothly at our Dutch location.

In this interview, Gani discusses what is means to be Head of Operations, share what he finds most rewarding about his role, and he offers valuable advice for people interested in a career in the logistics industry.

Could you describe your role as Head of Operations at SHAOKE Netherlands?

As the Head of Operations at SHAOKE Netherlands, my primary role is to ensure the smooth and streamlined daily operations of our branch. My role is multi-faceted. Together with my team, I oversee different aspects of our business. My teams select suppliers and transport companies to enhance our operational efficiency. On top of that, I handle administration, accounting and ensure timely and prompt payment of suppliers. Credibility is in my opinion crucial to maintaining a good relationship with our partners. We make certain that we provide timely and high-quality services, also during peak times.

What does your typical day look like?

Describing a typical day in my position is a challenge because every day at SHAOKE Netherlands is different. Given our startup nature and we are part of a particularly dynamic industry: logistics, there is always something happening. Whether it’s building something new, setting up our office, teams and expanding our business, or continually refining our operations and logistics processes. For example, digitalization is a current priority for us, and the logistics industry as a whole. We are consistently developing and improving our IT infrastructure to achieve optimal automation.

What do you like the most about your role?

What I really like about my job is that it’s hands-on. Because I engage in different parts of the business, it allows me to be involved in various teams. From working with the operations team, doing quality control and transport planning, to jumping on the forklift to support the warehouse team. I find it important to build connections with all team members and stay informed about what’s going on.

But, what I enjoy the most about my role, is without a doubt the opportunity to guide and empower my colleagues. Witnessing their growth and improvement is incredibly satisfying, especially when they reach a point of autonomy and leadership. This aspect, more than anything else, makes me proud of the collaborative and supportive culture we have built together in our team.

What advice would you give to someone starting in your field?

For someone entering the logistics field, my advice is simple: just go for it. While logistics may seem complex, approaching it with a logical mindset and a hands-on attitude, you can really succeed, which is very rewarding. Don’t be held back by the constant changes happening in the industry; see them as new learning opportunities to improve and develop new skills. Every day brings new challenges, making the logistics industry the place where you can really thrive and experience a sense of accomplishment at the end of each workday.
