See below for why your shipment might be transloaded.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is transloading?<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Transloading\u00a0is the process of moving a shipment from one mode of transport to another (e.g., from ocean container to truck).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Most often, this means picking up the container from port, bringing it to a warehouse, unloading it, and re-loading the cargo into a truck (for final delivery).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>There are a couple of reasons why your cargo might be transloaded:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>If your shipment is traveling a long way from the port to the final destination via truck, we may transload it in order to avoid costly\u00a0per diem charges.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>If your shipment is being delivered to more than one location. In this context, the transload fee refers to the labor involved in deconsolidating the shipment at a warehouse, palletizing it, and loading it into the trucks for final delivery.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.ctfassets.net\/92fo1e671z6m\/2j0qg4aJcrULGAU6sZCoQ1\/4263f86ca7421aa3ee1d1aec6ad52caa\/transloading-0.jpg\" alt=\"markdown image\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em>Example of a transloaded shipment with multiple delivery destinations.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Transloading is especially common for\u00a0Amazon shipments, which are often sent to more than one Amazon FBA warehouse (which have strict\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flexport.com\/blog\/your-guide-to-shipping-with-fulfillment-by-amazon-fba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">p<\/a>alletization\u00a0and\u00a0labeling\u00a0requirements).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Your shipment will also need to be transloaded if you are shipping\u00a0FCL to a residence.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If your shipment is transloaded, the fee will appear on your invoice as &#8220;Transload,&#8221; under Destination Charges.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Transloading is the process of moving a shipment from one mode of transport to another.
